Today, the latest version of the UK Radioplayer mobile and tablet apps was released.
The update introduced an updated interface, which included a Car Mode, which allows users to interact with the app safely whilst driving. This is further extended with the integration of Ford SYNC’s AppLink technology, which allows use of the car dashboard and voice commands to control the Radioplayer app. [Available now in Android, coming soon to iOS]
According to Radioplayer MD Michael Hill, this is just the start;
Radio remains the number one entertainment option in cars, because it’s a great multi-tasking medium. We think there’s huge scope for improving the in-car radio experience even further.
Along with the new Car Mode, users of the Radioplayer phone app will also notice a significant design upgrade – with lists of stations and programmes to swipe through, including a powerful radio-recommendation engine, a minute-by-minute trend-tracker, the latest catch-up programmes, and a list of local stations which updates as your location changes.
Listeners now also have access to ‘series-linking’ for catch-up programmes, a feature previously only available on the tablet app. With one tap, you can save not only a single episode but an entire series, automatically ‘stacked’ in Favourites. Plus there’s a Sleep Timer, and the ability to re-order your Favourites.
Michael Hill added:
Radioplayer’s success is based on listening. We listen to our users – which is why our apps are consistently the best-rated in the stores. We listen to the radio industry – which helps us showcase UK stations, brands, and programmes better than any other player. And all this leads to more radio listening – which is why we have 6-7 million unique users every month.
