All in Media, the leading developer of broadcast systems and mobile apps, has supplied its radio broadcast system, Rapid, to Club DAB Italia to streamline the management and publishing of visual radio services as part of the new digital radio roll out in Italy.

All in Media (AIM), is working with the Italian network operator, Club DAB Italia, making DAB+ digital radio a success in Italy. This project is being developed in partnership with the Swedish company, Factum, who recently provided a new DAB head-end system to Club DAB Italia using the latest superior platform.

Chris Gould, CEO, AIM;

Digital radio is developing throughout Europe and Italy is a key market for digital radio. The Italian radio market’s transition to digital is moving forward at speed and we are delighted that Club DAB Italia has chosen AIM to help them to showcase the full functionality digital radio provides.

Broadcasters need to be at the cutting edge of content delivery and need to be in control of their content on all platforms. We offer a simple system which does this, and will continue to work with the Italian market as part of their on-going drive to go digital.

AIM’s Rapid software enables radio stations to broadcast visual services across DAB+ and other platforms; whether gathering information from news and social media feeds, web data or from automation or EPG systems, Rapid allows broadcasters to manage their visual content in an efficient and effective way, saving time and money.

AIM will be attending the WorldDMB meeting in Trentino on Monday 15th-Tuesday 16th April to give demonstrations of Rapid to Italian broadcasters.

All In Media, the leading developer of broadcast systems and smartphone apps for the radio industry has signed its first contract in Malaysia to provide a range of apps to Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima) Malaysia’s No.1 integrated media group.

This expansion into new markets is part of an on-going strategy by the company which has already provided apps to leading radio brands in Europe and Australia. AIM’s Chief Executive Officer, Chris Gould said this week,

We’re an international company with a worldwide focus. This new contract is an exciting opportunity for us in a new territory. Our team in South East Asia understand this market and we are pleased to be developing further the current successful online and smartphone offer for all of Media Prima’s branded radio stations.

The Chief Executive Officer of Radio Networks, Media Prima, Seelan Paul, said,

We believe it’s important to build on the success of our current offering of apps with a new generation of radio apps that provide much more functionality and interactivity for our listeners. By creating a suite of advanced radio apps for our stations, AIM is providing us with innovative ways to engage and interact with listeners and from a business perspective creating new revenue streams. We have engaged AIM for their reputation to deliver creative apps that are appealing and easy to use.”

Media Prima’s radio stations include some of the top radio brands in Malaysia; Hot FM reaches 3.4 million listeners every week and is the no. 1 station for the average listenership under 25 demographic. Fly FM is the number two English language station that has shown an increase of 150% in exclusive audience in the recent survey and reaches out to 563,000 listeners weekly. Their latest addition, One FM, offering stations in Mandarin and Cantonese to 861,000 listeners weekly, has emerged as the number one Malaysian Chinese radio station for the longest Time Spent Listening (TSL) among the 18-24 demographic.

Media Prima understands its audience with stations that target young audiences in the 15-35 age demographic. Almost two in ten Malaysians aged 20-24 access the internet via their mobile smart phone (The Nielsen Company, April 2011) and, with the ownership and use of smartphones growing in Malaysia, radio apps are important for these youth stations to continue to keep pace with their young listeners. AIM will be bringing the next generation of Media Prima apps to the market in 2013, with the aim of bringing the audience closer to the Media Prima brand.

This is another great win for the team at AIM which has developed over 200 radio apps. The team has also recently built the Radioplayer app in the UK.

Manchester, Monday 12 November: All in Media, the leading developer of broadcast systems and mobile apps, believes that user-led technology will maintain radio as a key media in the 21st Century.

The company, which is the main sponsor of this year’s Radio Festival TechCon event being held today at The Lowry, Salford Quays, says that the social media revolution and advances in smart phones and digital technology is providing a fresh impetus to the industry.

The TechCon day at the Radio Festival is aimed at engineers and programmers, bringing together the best and brightest to share their thoughts and ideas on the latest innovations.

All in Media CEO, Chris Gould said

We are very happy to be sponsoring TechCon, as we see ourselves as leading developers of systems and apps that are helping to redefine radio on screens and in the mobile app world.

It is vital that the radio industry stays at the forefront of technological developments that improve the media experience for listeners and advertisers. TechCon brings together some of the leading players in the marketplace who understand the role radio can play in a technology-led society.

Our broadcast system products enable the delivery of visuals across all platforms, saving programmers time and optimising the use of visual content for stations, whilst we design radio apps to ensure that listeners get a visual app which is easy to use, all in the spirit of the Techcon event!

Dave Walters, Chairman of the TechCon organising committee said

#techcon12 has been focusing on the visual impact of radio broadcasting, and whether wireless with pictures will catch on. Today’s sessions show that it already has! Many thanks to AIM for sponsoring today’s important and hugely successful event.

Chris Gould adds

Visualisation is becoming an increasingly important part of the radio experience for broadcasters and from the point of view of advertisers and the car industry where screens are already standard. Broadcasters need to ensure the technology they have available can maximise their visual presence to meet listeners increasing expectations.

Available from today (Friday Oct 5) in the Apple app store and shortly on Android phones via Google Play Store, Radioplayer is the first industry-backed app putting UK radio in one place, on a mobile device. The new mobile app was conceived by Radioplayer partners and built by ‘All In Media’.

The new free app offers a truly fluid, intuitive and simple user experience, with all the benefits of Radioplayer’s online platform, but on the move. It boasts a range of features including an innovative ‘station scroller’, a powerful search engine to access live and catch-up radio, plus the ability for users to set up their favourite stations, browse radio that’s local or trending, and share listening via social media.

The app is designed to complement existing station branded apps and aims to help grow overall digital radio listening. It represents a step towards future radio interfaces – simple and engaging.

Tim Davie, Director, BBC Audio and Music said:

The success of Radioplayer has proved the appeal of offering the whole of UK radio in one place. The app launch is a logical next step and is excellent news for listeners and the UK radio industry.

Our aim was to create a simple app that showcases the amazing variety of UK radio. The fact we’ve built one that’s also beautiful, innovative, and a joy to use, is testament to the power of partnerships.

Andrew Harrison, Chairman of Radioplayer said:

This new app will help smartphone users to discover the depth and breadth of UK radio. Hundreds of stations are now just one mobile click away – another milestone in the industry’s progress towards a multiplatform digital future.
