All In Media, the leading supplier of digital radio software and smart-phone apps to the European and Australian radio industries, has moved to new offices on Eel Pie Island in South West London. One time home to the infamous Eel Pie Hotel, the island was frequented by the likes of The Who, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton who all played the venue in their rise to ‘Rock God’ status.

The island is now a mix of residential and commercial properties and makes a perfect setting for All In Media’s new base. Chris Gould, founder and CEO of All In Media, said of the move;

All In Media, the leading supplier of digital radio software and mobile phone apps to the European and Australian radio industries, has announced the launch of All In Media Malaysia.

The new company will cover the entire Southeast Asia region, where it will supply its award winning range of mobile phone apps to broadcasters, and also bring support to the burgeoning DAB digital radio market. All In Media Chief Executive, Chris Gould, made the announcement earlier today at WorldDMB’s digital radio session at the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium (6 -9 March 2012, Kuala Lumpur).

Based in Kuala Lumpur, All In Media Malaysia will provide a regional presence for broadcasters across the Southeast Asia region. It will enable broadcasters to provide new interactive services to listeners across mobile and digital radio platforms. All In Media has already secured a number of new clients for its apps and systems.

The Malaysian company will be run by Managing Director Steve Barnes. All In Media’s founder and Chief Executive, Chris Gould said “With 15 years’ experience developing services for telecoms, digital TV and radio, plus an intimate knowledge of the area, Steve is the ideal man for the job. We are looking forward to expanding All In Media and bringing our smart phone apps and DAB systems to the Southeast Asia region.”

The expansion of All In Media follows new contract wins for the company in Europe and Asia. Its Australian office continues to benefit from a successful DAB+ roll out which has drawn nearly 1 million listeners to the medium in just two years. And in Hong Kong, the company’s business continues to grow. Elsewhere in the region, countries such as New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore have digital radio infrastructure in place and are at varying stages of development. The market is perfectly timed for the launch of All In Media Malaysia.

Absolute Radio have revamped their entire network of IOS Smart Phone applications adding new DAB stations Absolute Radio 60s, home of The Beatles, Stones and Motown and Absolute Radio 70s, the UK’s Only 70s Radio Station, to the current series. Fresh apps for Absolute Radio, Absolute 80s, Absolute Radio 90s, Absolute Radio 00s, Absolute Classic Rock and Absolute Radio extra complete the stations 6th generation app launch.

The updates have been developed to furthermore increase usability and positive in app experiences across the board, and were designed in-house and co-built by the Absolute Radio OGS Labs team and All In Media. The refreshed interfaces, eye catching new design and UI allows listeners to tune into their favourite shows directly in-app with improved quality thanks to the new ‘Intelligent Streaming’ function. This ensures CD quality audio through a wireless connection with strong stream quality preventing constant buffering when listening on the move.

To date, the Absolute Radio app network has recorded over 2.5m installs and 300,000 active users. The station recorded over a 500% increase in mobile revenue growth from 2010 and forecasts that this will double into next year.

“With our sixth generation mobile ‘listen apps’ for IOS we have focused on a refreshed user interface and experience. As we approach 300,000 monthly active users (MAU’S) from an install base of over 2.5m, mobile is increasingly a very big part of logged in and listening ‘In Stream’ strategy”. Said Absolute Radio COO Clive Dickens

A host of new features are available across the new app network including the revolutionary RadioSync Technology. This allows users to scroll seamlessly through their mobile radio experience from the moment they started streaming. Listeners can remind themselves of tracks that have been played, download or share the music, buy gig tickets through the Absolute Radio ticket store and more.

Each app includes instant access to Absolute Radio’s complete podcast archive. With over 20,000 free podcasts to choose from, users can save their favourites and be notified via Push Notifications when a new episode is available. Access to all of the top interviews with artists, celebrities and presenters are available in app, via the Absolute Radio YouTube channel.

The apps also allow listeners to interact directly with the Absolute Radio studio over the phone, using SMS, email and AudioBoo with increased social network sharing functions via Facebook and Twitter.

All in Media and Folder Media announce a suite of tools to enable radio stations to take a full role in the development of the forthcoming cross-industry UK RadioPlayer – and for free.

RadioPlayer is a UK-wide initiative that will provide a common pop-up online audio player for commercial, BBC and community radio stations.

The tools announced today, will enable stations to provide live now playing information, programme schedule details as well associated metadata to ensure that their stations can compete with larger radio groups on an even basis.

The offer is open to any stations that can be included in the Radio Player.

Folder Media’s Matt Deegan says

AIM and Folder’s tools already allow our clients to keep DAB, Digital TV, Online and Mobile systems up to date, it made sense to widen this to cover the new Radio Player.”

Aim and Folder are both advocates of the RadioPlayer and already work on a variety of other projects together.

Matt continues;

The RadioPlayer allows all UK stations to compete on a level playing field for the first time, we’re making a suite of tools available so that smaller stations can compete with the big boys and provide a compelling service that helps them win more audience or make more money.

Chris adds;

Many stations have been talking to us about finding a cost-effective way to get involved in RadioPlayer – we thought ‘free’ was a pretty good place to start. With the RadioPlayer launching soon, we’re keen to hear from any station – BBC, commercial or community that wants to take part.

The web-based tools easily allow stations to keep an online schedule up-to-date as well as hook up the now playing information from their playout systems.

Through using the system the stations also have the opportunity to add on-demand and listen-again functionality as well as making money in their player windows from music purchasing and advertising.

All In Media, the technology company with international solutions for interactive radio applications, has agreed a deal with Arqiva to phase in Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) services to its Now Digital local DAB multiplexes across the country.

DAB EPG allows listeners to view weekly programmes on suitably enabled DAB radios, letting them browse, select and bookmark future listening appointments. AIM’s EPG software means radio stations can quickly and easily deliver their programme schedules to a range of platforms, including online, mobile and DAB platforms.

All In Media’s managing director, Chris Gould says:

In the past, EPG has been available for a small number of stations on an ad hoc basis. This investment in services and content by Arqiva greatly expands the stations offering an electronic programme guide to listeners. It’s good news for the industry and good news for consumers.

All In Media already supplies its EPG software to other countries broadcasting DAB and DAB+ radio, including Ireland and Australia. The deal with Arqiva makes AIM the world’s biggest supplier of DAB EPG systems to digital radio broadcasters and cements its reputation as the international experts in broadcast software across a range of digital platforms.

Jason Bryant, executive chairman of Town and Country Broadcasting, says:

RTÉ Radio has released its definitive iPhone application encompassing all eleven of its stations. The iPhone app was developed by All in Media. In less than a week, the RTÉ Radio Pocket Player topped the free download charts on iTunes as Ireland’s most popular music application and held the number two overall position in the country.

The application, a veritable one stop shop for all things RTÉ Radio, not only provides access to the 4 national services, RTÉ Radio 1, 2fm, lyric fm and Raidió Na Gaeltachta, but also the niche output of all 7 digital radio stations. Along with its audio functions the new application allows the listener greater interaction with each station by one touch access to a variety of RTÉ’s social media including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube channels.

Says JP Coakley, Director of Operations, RTÉ Radio:

We are delighted with this early vote of confidence by users in the Pocket Player. The design, function and utility of the app are an appropriate vehicle for the wonderful range and quality of content from RTÉ Radio. We are also very pleased to be able to present all 11 RTE Radio services in one application and to highlight our suite of 7 Digital radio services alongside their mainstream counterparts. The iPhone application environment remains a great place for us to imagine how radio will evolve in the future, our next challenge is to replicate this with other smart devices. We are particularly excited by what might be possible for phones with FM capability where free transmission can meet rich data via the phone network.
